Marilyn part 2

It's been a while but I'm back with part 2 of the Marilyn Monroe look ❤️
To create such an iconic look means more than just copying from an image.
Research included looking at the shape of her brows, investigating what type of eye shape, brow shape, lip colour, etc that were all synonymous to this historical style icon.
Marilyn was indeed a natural beauty and didn't actually wear much makeup, it is the way in which she carried herself and that iconic red lip that truly showed her beauty.
To create the look I first prepared my skin, I used Neals yard calendula Cleanser followed by Neals yard rose water toner. I then exfoliated the skin using Neals yard Honey and Orange facial scrub, using facial massage to stimulate the blood flow and give the skin a natural glow. Once I had washed off the facial scrub I then applied the Neals yard Frankinsense hydrating cream, again using facial massage techniques to gain a natural glow and prepare my skin in a way so that the makeup had a good base to sit on.
Preparing your skin prior to makeup application is the key to makeup that looks flawless and lasts longer.
I then primed the skin with a mattifying primer. Marilyn wasn't known for having sun-kissed skin, her complexion was paler and matt, to achieve this I applied a light shade of powder foundation with blush applied to the cheek in a subtle pink shade.
For the brows I used a powder and created a rounder shape brow to my own natural brows.
Marilyn didn't wear much eyeshadow, so I applied a nude shade just to the outer edges of the eye to add depth to my eyes. I used a creme liner and fine brush to apply the winged liner to the upper lid, Marilyn never wore liner under her lower lashes so the creme liner was only applied in a thin line above the upper lashes to create an illusion of longer lashes. To complete the eye look I applied a coating of black mascara to the upper and lower lashes, still maintaining a natural look.
Marilyn always wore a signature red lip! Although the exact red is something that has been argued for years, it's thought that the actual shade she wore was a combination of many reds mixed together and not actually just one shade.
To create my look I applied a matt red liquid lipstick and then applied a red gloss in the middle of the lip. I also accentuated my own lips by using a fine brush to create the perfect Marilyn pout, drawing above my natural lip line and bringing the outer edges into a slightly downturned look.
And of course no Marilyn look is complete without the beauty spot 🥰 luckily for me I already have a beauty spot in a similar position to Marilyn, I used a thin brush to add a dark brown powder to it to enhance its colour, this could be done using a brow pencil or brown liner pencil too.
I have to say I absolutely love the finished look, this is a timeless look and works just as well in these modern days as it did when Marilyn was alive.
