What is 'bohemian' bridal? Well to me it screams all things natural and chic.
The Boho bride is and has been a major trend for brides over the past few years, but how do you create a look so natural, flawless and dewy that will pass the 'wedding' test 🤔
A bride needs her makeup to last all day, in all types of weather, withstand tears and laughter, lots of kisses and hugs and still look flawless at the end of the evening after dancing the night away!
This is where a professional makeup artist comes in. We have the products, equipment and knowledge to ensure that your bridal makeup stands the test of time.
The first step is to book a consultation with your makeup artist, a trial run where you get to discuss your requirements and agree on a look. During the consultation you will be able to see what products are used, assess your skin type and agree on the best application.
As a bridal makeup artist I work with lots of different cosmetics, such as Kryolan, Everra, Charlotte Tilbury, Mac, Estee lauder, etc. It's also important to remember that your wedding makeup doesn't only include the makeup.
To make sure you are looking your best the skin needs to be prepared prior to application. Brows may need to be shaped, lashes lifted or lash extensions applied. All of this is discussed during the initial consultation and trial.
To achieve the Boho look below I made sure that I cleansed, toned, moisturised, applied eye cream and a serum to the face as well as facial massaging before application even began.
I then applied an illuminating Primer to the skin to give the skin a natural sheen.
Brows were combed through with soap and added colour using a pomade, the soap secures brows into place and will last all day and night.
I used a high coverage foundation and applied this lightly in layers to achieve a flawless finish without the makeup appearing cakey or too full coverage, the glow and skin need to shine through. Using a creme concealer to the under eyes, again in very light touch, layered carefully to avoid it creasing but ensuring full coverage.
I used a pink shade for the eyes to bring out the blue colour of my own eyes and applied a waterproof mascara, this could be changed to a lash lift and tint or classic lashes for an even more natural look and will ensure that no panda eyes are in sight on the big day.
A shade of pink blush was added to the cheek bones to give a natural glow, applying in the area where you would usually blush to create a natural rosiness.
The look was finished by exfoliation of the lips, a nourishing lip treatment and a lipstain and lip gloss applying in a natural colour to make the lips appear naturally plumped and pink, the perfect just kissed effect.
All of the steps were done to ensure that the makeup would withstand the test of time, if I was creating this look for an editorial piece the makeup wouldn't need to last as long and could probably be applied in a much shorter period of time, without the need for layering gently or spending as much time prepping the skin, and a setting spray would not need to be used, neither would lash lifts or extensions, a simple lash curler and a coat of clear or black mascara would have the same short term effect.
So as you can see, when you book your makeup artist for your wedding you aren't just booking for the makeup doing on the day, your booking an expert who will give her time, knowledge, experience, products, tools, advice and equipment to you.
To all my 2021 brides I can't wait to meet you and get sharing ideas and inspiration.
